The Celebration of Vasant Panchami

At the **Gita Sangha**, we celebrate Sri Sri Saraswati Puja with great devotion during the spring season (Vasant Panchami). Devi Saraswati is the goddess of knowledge, music, art, speech, and learning. This day is a beautiful reminder that all true knowledge is a divine gift to be used in the service of the Lord.

"Om Saraswati Mayabhage, Vidye Kamalarochane |
Vidhyarupa Vishalakshi, Vidhyam Dehi Namostute ||"

Traditions at our Temple

The atmosphere at the Mandir on this day is filled with the vibrant color yellow, representing the ripening of spring crops and the brilliance of knowledge. Devotees and students from our Gurukul Vidyalaya participate in several sacred traditions:

✍️

Hatey Khori

The "first writing" ceremony for toddlers, where they are introduced to the alphabet for the first time before the Goddess.

📚

Pushpanjali

Students and devotees offer books, pens, and musical instruments at the feet of the Goddess to seek her blessings.

🌼

Basant Utsav

A cultural program featuring Gita recitation and devotional songs performed by the youth of our community.

Following the morning Puja and Pushpanjali, a special Maha-Prasadam (typically including Khichuri and seasonal fruits) is distributed to all attendees. We pray that Mother Saraswati blesses our children with pure intelligence and a deep desire to learn the sacred scriptures.
